A few weeks ago, the USCIS announced that they would be increasing the flexibility to allow response time to submit evidence for immigration petitions.
Until March 30, 2021, the extension occurred 60 days at a time. This applied to:
- Request for evidence;
- Continuation for request for evidence, Form N14;
- Notices of intent to deny;
- Notices of intent to revoke;
- Notices of intent to rescind;
- Notices of intent to terminate;
- And all the variations to reopen, including N400 and Form I-290B.
USCIS informed that they would consider responding to these notices within 60-day calendar days after the original due dates of the notices. This will give you two extra months to respond to any of the above notices.
The main reason for the flexibility is, of course, the pandemic because of covid-19, which has made it more challenging to gather evidence, get original documents at courthouses, and government offices being closed.
